Rumor: Microsoft Getting Rid of Microsoft Points

Since the beginning of Xbox live, Microsoft points have been used as their online currency. Users could purchase 800 Microsoft points for $10 and then use those points to buy games, skins, DLC, etc. Many criticized the system since it is hard to convert 80 Microsoft points to a dollar, and many people had minuscule amounts of Microsoft points they had nothing to do with.

Inside Mobile Apps is reporting that by the end of the year Microsoft will phase out Microsoft points in favor of real money transactions. This is good news since nobody will have leftover points sitting on their account. The report also states that all Microsoft points will be converted to money, so nobody is going to lose any points with the change.

Keep in mind that this is currently a rumor, so take this good news with a grain of salt. As always, Microsoft has stated that "we do not comment on rumors or speculation." Stay tuned on Gamedwellers.com for more information as it becomes available.
