I have good news and bad news. The good news: Grand Theft Auto V has been given an official release date! The bad news: the release date is September 17th…

Grand Theft Auto V was originally scheduled for a Spring 2013 release, but now Rockstar Games is saying that they are pushing it back to the very end of summer to “”allow additional development time,” according to the press release.

The game is still only confirmed for a console release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, with a potential PC version still absent from the press release. FYI: The needlessly pointless petition to bring it to PC is still going strong.

Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser, when addressing the delay, said that “”We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months,” meaning that we will probably get a new trailer and some new previews within the next couple of weeks in order to ease the nerves of potentially disgruntled gamers that have been eagerly awaiting the game (such as myself.) It’s been over two months since the last trailer, so in classic Rockstar fashion, a new one should be arriving soon.

This isn’t the first time that a major Grand Theft Auto game has been delayed. Grand Theft Auto IV was originally scheduled for an October 2007 release, only to be pushed back several months to its eventual April 2008 release.
